Volunteer-Vacancy

At FixMyWard.org, we’re looking for volunteer software developers to join a team of changemakers customising an existing public participation platform for social impact in Kenya. You should have at least two years experience (professional or keen amateur) in at least one of Python, Ruby, Perl, PHP, C++, Javascript or Adobe Flex. More important than your software development skills will be the following traits:

– Attention to detail
– Humility
– Teamwork and respect for others
– Respect for deadlines and time management
– Excellent communication skills
– Willing to commit two weeks to support a not-for-profit
– Familiarity with PostgreSQL, Ubuntu and Amazon EC2 server environment

Responsibilities:

You will receive assignments in one or several of these areas as part of the overall design.
  • Customise mapping data on application using OpenStreetMap
  • Data entry for atleast 1500 contacts (names, email addresses etc)
  • Integration of a customisable dashboard for administrator area
  • Customise the existing code for a mobile application
  • other customisation/integration tasks

Educational requirements:

Bachelors of Science in Computer Science (minimum) Software development certifications but experience and passion counts for more

Experience requirements:

Lifetime passion in solutions development Have been coding for a minimum of two years

Desired Skills:
